On The Soft Pack, the self-titled first release under their new moniker, the guys show off how solid their formula is. Their sound is set in stone and they recycle it song after song after song for 30 minutes. Nearly every song is catchy, and some are really catchy.

Go get the album, invite some friends over, invite that girl you like, lower that shoulder and get at it. Best dance record of 2010 for now. Hard to envision someone topping it.

SURFER BLOOD "Astro Coast" (93/100) →
The album is a changeling, bouncing from straight power pop to a sort of lo-fi punk to beach-party love within the first three tracks. The rest of the album is just as good, if not better.
